FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11/01/05 THE NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY ANNOUNCES THE NOMINEES FOR THE 3rd ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL REPORTING CNN’s LOU DOBBS TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Complete list of nominees available at www.emmyonline.tv New York, November 1, 2005 – The National Television Academy today announced the nominees for the Third Annual Emmy Awards for Business and Financial Reporting. The awards will be presented on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the New York City headquarters of Bloomberg. Veteran CNN anchor Lou Dobbs will receive the Lifetime Achievement Emmy for Business and Financial Reporting. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in business and financial reporting by programs broadcast from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005. 21 nominations were announced in eight categories. "The quality of this year’s entries was outstanding” said Peter Price, President of the National Television Academy. “The judges were hard pressed to narrow down the field, and the nominees show the excellent and important work being done in economic journalism.” Bill Small, Chairman of News & Documentaries at the National Television Academy, praised Lifetime Achievement honoree Lou Dobbs. “Lou Dobbs’ career in financial journalism is a long and distinguished one,” said Small. “He has been a dominant figure in the field for over a quarter of a century, and richly deserves to be honored for a lifetime of achievement.” Dobbs was a founding member of CNN in 1980 and is the only original anchor remaining on the air today. He served as anchor of the prestigious business news program Lou Dobbs Moneyline, and was president of CNN/fn, which he helped launch in 1995. He was executive vice president of CNN until 1999, and currently serves as anchor and managing editor of Lou Dobbs Tonight.
